Stepping Up for Families: The 41st Annual Care Net Peninsula Walk4Life

On Saturday, May 9th, the morning air at Newport News Park was filled with hope, purpose, and community spirit as hundreds gathered for the 41st Annual Care Net Peninsula Walk4Life. For everyone at The Roofing Company, Inc. this wasn't just another weekend sponsorship—it is a mission that hits incredibly close to home.

A Faithful Legacy of Support Our President, Brian Chalsma, and his wife, Teresa Chalsma, have been dedicated cornerstones of the Care Net Peninsula family since 2010. Over the last 16 years, Teresa has served the ministry in almost every capacity imaginable—starting as a Client Intake Volunteer welcoming mothers into the clinic, later chairing the Executive Leadership Team to successfully navigate fundraising events through challenging times, and ultimately joining the Board of Directors in 2021.

"I started volunteering and supporting Care Net Peninsula because I felt it was a positive way to serve moms and save babies," Teresa shares. "I love that all the services are free to women. The staff at the clinic is phenomenal!" 

Boots on the Ground & Giveaways on the Grass 

This year, our team set up a vibrant station under our canopy to cheer on the walkers and support the cause. Giovanny and Teresa spent the day connecting with participants, showing off some of our high-quality roofing components, and hosting an extra-special raffle.

To celebrate the day, we raffled off a highly sought-after, limited-edition Lavender Trader Joe's Insulated Cooler Tote Bag stuffed full of goodies! It was a massive hit among the crowd—perfectly timed for summer picnics and beach days—and it added an extra layer of celebration to a day already dedicated to pouring love back into local mothers and babies.

By sponsoring these critical events year after year, our corporate goal at The Roofing Company, Inc. is to ensure that the vital funds raised go exactly where they are needed most: directly back into the medical clinic and support systems that provide free, life-affirming care across our community.
