The Office Heart Hums on Training Day
Welcome to the beating heart of The Roofing Company; the Office. This is where most of your communication with our company is made and the central location where all company staff will be at some point or another. Within the Roofco walls is where all departments of this well-oiled machine hum together to bring you an exceptional home improvement experience. Teresa Chalsma, Vice President, gives us her charming smile right in the center of the “heart”.
Our third and final continuation from “Drops of Sunshine at our 7th Annual Training Day.” and “Team Production Takes the Lead on Training Day”
The office space on Training Day centered around four topics, involving sales, production, safety and administrative support. No matter our position in the company, these are all topics that affect every Roofco employee.
- Being Your Own Roofco Promoter
Ken Ashcom, Roofing Estimator, discussed various ways to promote The Roofing Company just by being you and interacting with the people you come in contact with each day. Be it while involved in your own interests and hobbies, or simply standing in line at a grocery store, the opportunity is there to let others know about the best roofing company in Hampton Roads. We are proud of our services and the relationships we have made with our customers over the last 20 years. It only makes sense to share that in any way and anywhere we can!
- Slator-USA: Roofing Safety Training
Ronny with Slator-USA shared chilling stories of actual news footage where improper safety led to serious injuries and worst case scenarios; fatalities. The bottom line is to avoid that by all means! Ronny pressed on with important safety facts, covered more details about proper safety harnesses and displayed several temporary and permanent roof anchors from his safest choice list. We learned that offering the homeowner the option of installing a permanent anchor during a roof repair or installation has a huge benefit if the homeowner is planning other home improvement projects in the future.
- Time Keeping
Staci Davis, Chief Financial Officer, and Debbie Morris, Human Resources Manager, facilitated an in-depth conversation with each group about the importance of a new time keeping system that was recently rolled out within the company. Having this interactive time with a small group from various departments proved to be a good set up where everyone got a perspective from the other how the new system will benefit them. Training Day is a blessing!
- Setting the Correct Expectations
Nito, Project Manager, ran through our detailed pre-construction checklist that is reviewed and checked off with the homeowner before every project begins. The checklist covers items such as where the materials will be located, conducting a walk through to point out things of importance, such as flowerbeds, reviewing the contract, answering questions, and more. It is essential to set the correct expectations for the homeowner and give them peace of mind up until, during and after the project is completed. That is always our goal.
A HUGE thank you to all of our superb office trainers! Thank you for dedicating your time to teach us all things we didn’t know before Training Day!
