This slate roof is on a home near Lake St. Catherine in Vermont. The slate is from the Newmont Slate Quarry, also in Vermont. The unique roof was featured in The Slate Roof Bible 2nd Edition, page 163, as written by Joseph Jenkins.
This beautiful and very distinctive slate roof was constructed using very thick slate, in multiple lengths and widths.
Brian and Teresa Chalsma, owners of The Roofing & Remodeling Company in Hampton, Va., visited this home with this one-of-a-kind slate roof while on their way to the National Slate Association (NSA) and the Slate Roofing Contractors Association (SRCA) meeting in Quebec. The slate roof has been performing excellently for more than 30 years, and should last another 500 years into the future.
An excellent example of Vermont slate in Hampton Roads is Hilton Village in Newport News. The Roofing & Remodeling Company is one of the only roofing contractors in Hampton Roads to specialize in slate roofing. Call on us for any slate roofing need.
